OBITUARY. MRS ANN JONES, of 10 Walker street, New port, who died on Sunday, August 6, was a colonist of 70 years. Born in County Clare, Ireland, she came to Australia a girl 10 years of age, and went to Ballarat in the fifties during the gold discoveries at Ballarat East, and was at the Eureka Stockade during the exciting times with her husband, the late Mr Edward Jones. During the time the Duke of Edinburgh came to Ballarat, also the two young princes (the present king, His Majesty King George, and his brother), she was at their receptions with her sister, the late Mrs Daniel Brophy. Deceased leaves two sons and a daughter to mourn her loss.[1]
