Charles Fenwick

Background

John Fenwick was from Denmark. Fenwick arrived on the Gambia in 1852 aged 22 years. James Graham Smith’s reminiscences state that McGowan and Fenwick escaped from the Eureka Stockade and returned to their homes in Creswick. [1]

Goldfields Involvement, 1854

Fenwick was arrested after the Eureka Stockade. A report described Fenwick as having a sailor-like look, and appears strong and active. [2]

Fenwick was captured by Private Patrick Hynott after the Eureka Stockade battle. He escaped but was recaptured by Private Gould.[3]
